Coconut trees are prehistoric plants that scientists believe either came from the South Pacific around what is now New Guinea. This fruit is 37 million years old and it is found almost all over the world. People often think of it as a nut but it is actually a fruit.
Coconut and its name actually have an interesting history. Coconut got its name from Portuguese sailors who were accompanying Vasco da Gama in his ship. They named it Coco which means.
